property description: The Agriturismo Antico Uliveto is situated in the very heart of the Chianti area, between the beautiful city of Siena and the famous medieval fortress of Monteriggioni, nestled in one of the world's most fascinating countrysides. Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, the Agriturismo is part of the Gardinia Organic Farmhouse (Azienda Agricola Biologica Gardinina), where the Taddei family has been using only organic methods for its production of wine, olive oil, honey and grains for the past ten years. Of course, all of our agricultural products as well as our local specialties - such as truffles and mushrooms - can be bought on the spot. The old farmhouse, which has recently been restructured, consists of five large, comfortable apartments, furnished in the rustic Chianti style
but outfitted with every possible comfort
The ideal position of our agriturismo allows you to easily reach such important Tuscan art centers as Siena, Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, Volterra, Radda in Chianti, Florence, Montepulciano, Pienza....
In the nearby village of Quercegrossa you can play tennis or soccer. Just a few kilometers away, in the beautiful area of Lecceto, there's a riding stable that has been our partner for years in organizing marvelous horseback rides lasting from a few hours to the whole day. In the town of Colle val d'Elsa (about 20 kilometers) you'll find a small golf course
(www.abbadiagolf.com). And we strongly advise, both in summer and in winter, On our grounds you'll find a typical Tuscan inn, run by Antonia and Mario, that offers traditional dishes together with an excellent selection of wines and grappa. It's a nice cozy environment, and when the weather is good it's delightful and relaxing (besides delicious...) to have lunch or dinner outdoors. Our guests are always treated especially well, both under the fixed menu plan and à la carte. The inn is open every day except Tuesday for lunch and dinner
accommodation: The apartments all have an independent entrance and a small patio for dining, enjoying various activities or simply relaxing in the open air. Almost all of them are furnished with the typical Tuscan fireplace, which, besides creating its own special atmosphere, offers our guests the chance to cook and to heat the rooms in the most traditional way possible. The splendid garden that separates the Agriturismo from the manor-house, filled with roses, olive trees,
wisteria and In front of all this a truly unique landscape opens out before you, in the midst of a silence caressed only by the Tuscan breezes. Almost every apartment is heated by a wood-burning fireplace, for those who dont want to miss the beauties of our countryside in the fall and winter. On the grounds of our large estate there is a typical Osteria (eating-place) for those who wish to relax completely without giving up good food. The surrounding hillsides are dotted with olive trees and rows of vineyards, an ideal setting for long walks, horseback rides or mountain bike outings.
location: From Northern Italy (Milan), exit on A1 Highway at Firenze Certosa and follow directions to Siena. Proceed on the freeway till the exit of Badesse. Turn left and follow directions to Lornano; after that village, proceed for 3 km about and take your right at the first cross (after the little village of Topina). Proceed till you don't arrive to a cross with a country
road. Take your right and enter Strada della Magione. Proceed on this country road, passing by Osteria della Magione, turning right at the top of the hill.
Following the road for about 300 meters, you will arrive straight into the Antico Uliveto estate.
