Podere La Casellina

property description:  With the joviality and the warmth of peasant culture, we offer our hospitality with care and discretion, trying to satisfy all needs.

All our guests, longing for rest and for being in touch with nature, enjoy the slow rhythm of the country.

We have transformed the hayloft and the stables into three comfortable bedrooms with bathrooms.

We still live in the three hundred years old farmhouse where guests can enjoy a full breakfast, with fresh eggs, homemade jams and cakes, and meals based on products coming from our fields like oil, wine and vegetables. The food is typical Tuscan and goes according to the seasons and our grandmother's recipes.

Our family have been living here since 1936, when the local church handed over this podere to our grandparents, after their wedding, under a form of contract called mezzadria (sharecropping).

In the years many people have come over to enjoy the atmosphere of this place and now, in order to keep the tradition of this rich and beautiful land, we would love to hand it down on all our guests.

For those who would not join us with working the fields, you can either go for walks through the farm, enjoy an old-style picnic in the vineyard or in the olive grove, or simply walk through the wonderful wood paths, picking chestnuts and precious wild mushrooms.

The area is also ideal for trekking, biking and horse riding.
And eventually you can visit Florence, only 18kms away, and Arezzo, San Gimignano and Siena, within an hour drive.

Tuscany is waiting for you and we will be delighted for you to stay with us!

from previous guests:

Dear Sylvia and Michelangelo,
We arrived safely back in the UK after our tour of Italy. We had a super time not least of which was our brief but immensely enjoyable stay at the Podere.Thank you for your generous hospitality, we really enjoyed the evenings with you and your fellow guests. Do you recall the two families from Napoli that came to stay on our last night. I think they were Doctors. Is it possible for you to give me a contact E-mail address or postal address, I have some information for them on B&B in England which I wish to forward to them. Hope to visit you again, I would love to bring my sister perhaps to help with the Olive harvest.......what time of year would that be? Our very best regards  Roger and Sue Parker

Michelangelo and Silvia,
Sarah and I have made it home, safe and sound, memories of our trip still distracting us from our jobs. I just wanted to write you a quick note to tell you, once again, what a special and woderful time we had at your farm. Your hospitality was the perfect medicine for our stressed-out lives. I can't tell you what it meant to us. I'll remember our dinner with your friends, and your mother's lasangne, forever! In fact, we want the recipe! We also want the recipe for Slyvia's pasta with spinaci and arugala. Sarah tried it the other night, and .....well...it wasn't the same. Sharing a meal with you and your friends was the highlight of our holiday, believe it or not. I think meeting new people is the best part of traveling, and the people we met around your table were great. We plan to send a box off to you in the next few days, but I'm sure it will take weeks to arrive. I took a picture of Sarah in your cellar before we left. Remember, you've got a place to stay if you ever make it to California. And I certainly hope that Sarah and I will, one day soon, return to podere La Casellina. Our very best wishes, Peter and Sarah
