property description: Set against the backdrop of the misty mountains of Kurushumala, the lush meadows of Periyar nearby and the calm village ambience make this a great base to explore the beautiful area of Periyar. The homestay is ideally located less than a kilometer from Kumily town, the spice garden of India and borders the famed forest of Periyar Tiger Reserve.

We stay green by using solar energy to heat water, terra cotta tiles to moderate the temperature, use vegetable from the home garden and recycle waste using wormi compost.

We employ local villagers as helpers and buy locally. We promote nature bound activities and provide free visit to the Mannan Tribal Colony, thereby encouraging the tribal community and awareness to the world about the tribes living here.

At Koshys we sell the experience of staying with us at Periyar and interacting with the local community more than just the stay.

accommodation: We have 3 comfortable rooms with attached bathrooms. We provide additional amenities like a library, TV room, dining hall, kitchenette with coffee/tea maker and a roof top terrace facing the Periyar Tiger Reserve.

We provide twin beds with white bed sheets and thick blankets. Each room has a wardrobe a writing table, bottled drinking water, table lamps and chairs. The bathrooms have 24 hour flowing hot water supply. We provide white bath and face towels with a bathing kit in the bathrooms. We have intercom in the common hall and the guest can contact us any time they require a help.

We use Solar heater to heat water and terracotta tiles to moderate the temperature. The rooms are well ventilated and naturally lit to avoid dependence on electric lighting in day time. We use CFL lamps to minimize electric conception and avoid bathtubs to reduce wastage of water. Guest staying at Periyar are given a wide variety of nature bound activities to keep them busy during their stay.

pricing: We have a standard price of Rs 3000 ( or GBP 42) per room per night on Bed & Breakfast basis.

Additional meals can be prepared on request and is charges Rs 250( or GBP 3.5) per person.

changeover day: Our check in and check out timing is 12:00 Noon

surroundings: Koshys is located at Periyar, known for the Periyar Tiger Reserve. We have a roof top terrace facing the hills of Periyar Tiger Reserve and peaceful atmosphere. There are a wide variety of activities possible at Periyar including forest trekking, bamboo rafting, Jungle Safari, Night Trekking, Nature Walk, Tribal Colony Visit, Elephant Interaction and Art performance.

location: Koshys is located less than a kilometer from Kumily Town. Nearest Airport is Cochin International Airport which is 180 Kms away and railway station is 110 Kms away.
